Mandos—Building on What We Know

The more we play these walks, the more they begin to travel with us.

What starts as one exercise gradually proves useful somewhere else, until separate lessons begin to feel like parts of the same conversation.

This mandolin walk takes place on a different set of strings, but it draws on many of the same ideas you've already begun to recognize. That's no accident. Good musical ideas have a way of transferring from one place to another, giving our hands one more opportunity to connect what they already know with something new.

One lesson has a way of preparing us for the next. Before long, we're no longer collecting individual walks—we're building a musical vocabulary that follows us wherever the music leads.
