Dobros, Here's Your Turn

Every instrument begins somewhere,

And the dobro is no different. Before the slides, bends, and soaring phrases that give the instrument its unmistakable character come a few true ideas that make every walk work.

Here we apply those ideas to the dobro in a straightforward way. The goal is to become comfortable with the purpose, timing, and direction of a walk before adding the many expressive touches that make this ol' hound dog such a joy to play.

Once those foundations settle into your hands, that ol' hound dog starts to baying at the moon.

Today's walk is only the beginning. From here, the dobro has plenty more to say.
