Seeing C F G

You're probably beginning to trust your first impressions.

That's a good thing.
This family introduces one small wrinkle. Some chord shapes look more alike than others. A "cheater F" can look a lot like a C chord at first. That's alright. Even when the exact shape isn't obvious, the motion between them often is—and that motion may tell us everything we need to know.

There's another side to Guitar Hands as well. It's one thing to watch the chords—there's an art to showing them too. Big, clear chord shapes make it easier for everyone around the circle to follow along. Learning to watch well and learning to be watched well are both part of making music together.
